Art World Chess Set

The Art World Chess Set was created by Lauren Cohen in 2024 for the Gallerina: (Do Not) Disturb exhibition at Ace Hotel New York, sponsored by Ace Hotel and Powerhouse Arts, Brooklyn. This 24 x 24 inch ceramic sculpture was glazed to resemble stone statues. The pieces represent key players in the art industry, each embodying strategic roles. The set features an all female cast of characters: gallerinas, directors, writers, and artist pawns, with the only male figure being a small rider on a female centaur.
